Social Media Use In Retail
I really found this infographic enlightening that I had to share it. Although I know social media use can change with time, it does give a sense of social media use in retail. At least by the major retailers.
Walmart is all about engaging on Facebook with little use of the other major channels. They just dominate in this space. Perhaps not surprising when you think about their visibility of their physical presence. Walmart is clearly working the B2C relationship which Facebook is known for.
Dell and Target, on the other hand, seem to have a significant presence in 4 of the major social media channels listed. It is a little surprising that Walmart has not leveraged Pinterest given 60-70% of its members are women. Perhaps the rationale is related to level of income. Regardless, it is still surprising. Target clearly has a different strategy. Dell is known for its social aptitude and hence it is not surprising that they too have a larger social footprint and broad audience.
What is also noticeable is that Facebook is still the social media channel of choice when it comes to the social media consumer interface with millions of followers for all the major retailers listed.
Hope you too find the infographic useful. Let me know.
